This weekend course targets the true beginner who has never climbed before, and wants to experience the thrill of climbing rock faces. Those who have had some experience, either outdoors or in a climbing gym, are more than welcome to join.

The course places a strong emphasis on ensuring that all clients are able to perform all the basic skills which will enable them to enjoy the sport of rock climbing safely and accompany more experienced climbers.

During the course clients will visit 3 to 4 different areas, allowing an oppurtunity to climb as much as possible on different rock faces. Accommodation at the Roc n Rope Chateau and 2 delicious lunches are included in the price.

We strongly recommend that you first practise all the rope work and techniques taught on the course under the supervision of quailified or experienced climbers before getting onto the rock with friends or lesser experienced climbers.

Itinerary

After issuing clients with the kit that they require for the weekend, the basic skills and climbing levels of all participants will be assessed and the weekend course programme begins.

Cancellation policy

50% cancellation fee for a notification of 7 days or less.

Children Policy

The age restriction for this course is 10 years (to be accompanied by parents). By law any person under 18 years has to be indemnified by a parent or legal guardian before the course start date.

Participant Guidelines

Accommodation at the Roc 'n Rope climbers' lodge, backpacker style, is included in the cost of the course. Delicious lunches are also provided. All you need to bring are your personal toiletries (don't forget sun block), a towel, comfortable clothes and shoes to walk in the veld, and additional food for the weekend - there is a place to braai and some good restaurants in town. If you own any climbing gear, bring it along.

All climbing equipment that you will require, including climbing shoes, are supplied free of charge for the duration of the course.
